Midwinter Festival

Sheffield Steam and Heritage Centre presented Midwinter Festival was held on 25th June 2022 from 11:00 am to 9:00pm.

We celebrated the middle of winter with a gathering at 14 Spring St Sheffield.

The weather was very challenging and the grounds were wet and cold.  However the fire pits and wonderful atmosphere kept people warm and the fireworks were again a huge crowd pleaser.

Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who made the event a success.

There was a programme of singers and musicians throughout the day which complemented the steam train rides (including night runs), the wonder of the giant steam traction engines, and the curiosities  of heritage machinery.

The Knights Templar attended and demonstrated their weaponry skills.

The kids enjoyed rides, face painting .

The highlight of the evening was a professionally presented fireworks display and bonfire, at 8:45pm.

“This is the second year that we have presented this winter festival we are so pleased to bring the community together in this event and proud of the support that the town has given. The evening offers a fun filled, family friendly event and we were very pleased with how it went last year.  Over 700 people made the trip to Sheffield to enjoy our first event and everyone involved had a ball.  Night steam train runs are very rare now in Australia and I urge everyone to come and participate.” – Mr Martin, Director of Sheffield Steam and Heritage.
